Gwen Crellin MBE

長年、マーシャルとして活動し、その功績を讃えられて英国王室より「MBE」(メンバーオブブリテッシュエンパイヤ)勲章を受けたミス・グウェイン・クレリンMBEさんが、現地時間の2006年12月9日土曜日の朝、亡くなった。89歳だった。
グウェインさんはバラフブリッジの側に住み、マーシャルをするときはいつも白い服を着てフラッグを持っていたので通称“レディ・ホワイト”とも呼ばれていた。
また、TTやMGPのレースのときはいつも家をライダーや関係者のために開放し、お茶を振る舞うなどしていた。

John Kermeen Chairman of the Manx Grand Prix Supporters Club, and the Manx Grand Prix Rescue Helicopter fund has asked to let you all know of the sad passing of Mrs Gwen Crellin MBE.

Gwen died earlier today (Saturday 9th December), after a long stay in hospital and later in King’s Reach in Ramsey.

She was one of the founder members of the Manx Grand Prix Rescue Helicopter Fund, and in recent years has served as their Patron.

She was given the MBE for her contribution to the Motor Racing on the Island and was known as "The Lady in White” as she was flag (Woman) Man at Sulby side of Ballaugh.

She was a very good friend of Giacomo Agostini, who I am sure, like us all will be very saddened to hear this news.

マン島から一番近いのは，イギリス本島はバロー岬（ガロウェイ）からマン島の北端にあるポイント・オブ・エールで16マイル（約25.6km)です．

イギリス本島イングランド側からの最短距離にあるのは，セント・ビーズ岬（カンブリア）で，マン島のラムジーの北東まで34マイル(約54.4km)です．
マン島の西側の町，ピールからは北アイルランドのストラングフォード・ラクとホリヘッドで、40マイル（64km)あります。
マン島の南端，カーフ・オブ・マンからはウェールズまで直線で55マイル（88km)あります．

曇りや雨の天候が多いマン島では澄み渡った晴れの天候は少ないのですが，晴れれば北側からはスコットランド側と北アイルランド側を同時に見渡すことができます．スコットランド側の街並みも見えます．
